Another beautiful morning and another day of climbing… We wish… The weather hasn’t been cooperating lately with small drizzles of spitting in the mornings. Nevertheless we decided to go climbing anyway cause everyday counts. We decided to go back to Donnelly Canyon due to the short approach and the few other moderates that we could try!
The first climb we warmed up on was a short unnamed 5.9 which was mainly hands with a pod in the middle.
Nek minit we were preparing to get on anothrt climb called Drainpipe… Low and behold it started raining and hailing.
So lucky there’s a cave right next to the climb to hide out in.
Finally after the downpour and the storm water came rushing down the Drainpipe, the weather started looking better and Em got psyched!
Here she is getting right into it. It was the pumpiest climb ever! The Climb was slightly steep in a corner with tight hands to fingers…. It was so hard that once I clipped the chains I just let go and flopped. Totally knackered! Probably was the hardest climb I’ve done so far. My feet slipped line 3 times during the club and was so ready to give up.
Here’s a shot of a climber we watched climbing Dos Hermanos, 5.11 classic.
Here’s me and Em at the bottom of the Drainpipe as she belayed Cylvie.
We even squeezed in a third climb called The Thing, I don’t have a photo but it was varied with this fin thing that overlaps the main crack. I found it totally hard but the girls really enjoyed it. The grades here at the creek is really dependant on the size of your hands and fingers.
The road to and from the crag that we take everyday is one of the most amazing stretches of road and landscapes of even seen… Everyday its somehow more and more beautiful.
Yes this is the view from the camp-site at sunset! And this was straight out of my phone!! Amazing!
Did I tell you that we are gourmet?! Sockeye salmon for dinner with mustard and maple sauce!
After we full our bellies and wash up, we start planning our next day =)
